NEVER one to shy away from grabbing the occasional headline – particularly when it comes to advertising – Vogue.com hears that Tom Ford is working with politically outspoken singer Erykah Badu. The American soulstress will be the face of Ford’s new fragrance, the name of which has not yet been released. Badu shot to fame in the Nineties with hits such On & On, which earned her a Grammy, and was known early in her career for her colourful African headwraps; she also changed the spelling of her name, which was originally ‘Erica’, to ‘Erykah’, which she believed to be her original ‘slave’ name. But while she may have been out of the musical limelight for almost four years, getting in front of the lens for Ford shouldn’t be too much of an upheaval for her – she has recently been trying to crack Hollywood, with parts in movies such as The Cider House Rules.
