Tom Ford debuts watch collection

The American label makes styling your timepiece effortless with an inventive strap system

Recent decades have seen some of the top fashion houses increasingly embracing the world of watchmaking, with the likes of Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton leading the way. In fact, it’s almost unusual these days for a label not to include a line of wrist-based accoutrements as part of its range of accessories.

That Tom Ford has waited until 2018 to reveal his first collection of timepieces speaks to the thought that has gone into his horological debut. Its innovation comes through most evidently in its playful interchangeable strap system, allowing the wearer to effortlessly switch between more than 60 different style and colour options. One of the easiest, no-tools-required solutions on the market, the case simply slides on and off the strap, sitting securely on the wrist when the buckle is fastened.

Just as you’d expect from the American designer, the Swiss-made watches exude a sleek and androgynous look, presented in two case diameters of 30mm and 27mm. Featuring a subtly curved rectangular silhouette and contemporary font on the dial, dressier options include an 18ct gold version, while it’s also available in stainless steel and a matte black DLC. They provide the ideal base to pair with the vast array of strap options, including woven braided leather, alligator and pebbled grain leather in hues from toned-down blacks, browns and tan to bolder pinks and reds, making picking the perfect watch to match your outfit easier than ever.

The New Face Of Tom Ford Does Elle

Keira Knightley has landed on the cover of Elle UK’s March issue, making this her second cover of 2011.

For her spread, the Brit wears pieces from Tom Ford’s new collection because she’s been tapped by the designer to model his womenswear for the next 6 years.

Tom says of Keira:

“I absolutely love Keira. She is spectacular, very professional and I love her spirit. She’s beautiful in an English way; she has a little 1940s feel to her face — yet at the same time she always looks so young and modern.”

We think she’s a lovely choice, but we’re kinda over the collection since it’s been featured in every magazine imaginable.

Christmas Gift: Tom Ford Black Orchid Set

Christmas Gift Guide Tom Ford Black Orchid SetIf you want to get something very special for yourself – Tom Ford’s Black Orchid set (£90/$140) is what you need! I personally absolutely love the nail polish and  the lipstick, the colour is gorgeous and I would love to have them both. Although I am not sure that I need this perfume but I guess it would be a nice present for my Mama, who loves such type of perfumes (but I can’t imagine her rocking such lipstick/nail polish).

Set includes Black Orchid Private Blend Lip color(black design which I like SO much better), Black Orchid Pressed Perfume and Nail Polish.

Welcome Back mr. Ford

Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection – which marked his comeback to fashion after six years of absence – was made top-secret with no pictures from the show allowed and the preview is not slated to be out until January when the goods hit stores. It seems like Vogue US has the first look at some pieces from the collection in the latest December issue ahead of Vogue Paris’s All Tom Ford Issue. Steven Meisel photographed a mix of veteran top models and others who walked in his presentation last September in New York for the Sarah Mower write-up ‘Mr Ford Returns’.

As for the clothes, which Tom Ford began working on last spring, will be in his stores in late January or February 2011. The price will range from $3,500 to $5,000 for a suit, around $4,500 for a tuxedo, and a gown for about $20,000.

Tom Ford Launching Women`s Bags

At the Tom Ford prefashion show was the zip bag, a small but practical small leathergoods piece; minaudiere came in 18-karat gold or glass; a croc bag with woven leather shoulder strap; a black croc zipped pochette and a pochette trimmed in velvet. It appears the bags are geared more toward evening and tended toward the smaller side. It was refreshing to see no large, bulky totes or dreaded dog carriers. Images of the collection will be released in January so stay tuned Bag Snobs!
