Grey Vetiver of Tom Ford

Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver is a fragrance for men, filled with scents that are complex, and fresh. The fragrance is spicy and warm, creating the ultimate cologne experience during the cooler fall winter months. The fragrance is medium heavy, great for evenings activities, special occasions, weekends and cool weather.

Tom Ford Goes Moroccan For New Fragrance

donderdag, mei 13th, 2010

Bois Marocain of Tom Ford

Morocco seems to be where it is at this summer for the fashion crowd (Yves Saint Laurent was aware of this ages ago). First we saw ethnic prints, vibrant citrus colors, and Ikat style weaving all over the Spring/Summer 2010 runways — from Dries Van Noten to Bottega Veneta. Now it seems Tom Ford wants in on the action with a new fragrance launched this month: Private Blend Bois Marocain.

Like the colors we saw on the runway (and the general climate of the exotic North African paradise), Bois Marocain’s fragrance is warm and vibrant. Its ingredients include thuya (a rare and precious wood native to the region), Madagascan black pepper, bergamot, and nutmeg. Spicy and so perfect for those sultry summer nights.

The 2010 FiFi Awards: The Finalists

zondag, mei 2nd, 2010

The 2010 FiFi Awards finalists are narrowed down to five for each category. Consumer voting shall commence on April 28. As we await the winners, let’s explore once again the candidates for this year’s Oscars of the perfumery.

Starting with the men’s luxe fragrances, the finalists are: Calvin Klein CK Free, D&G Fragrance Anthology, Givenchy Play, Diesel Only The Brave, Shiseido Zen for Men and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Certainly, these fragrances deserve recognition as they have captured the attention of many: the creativity that produced the fragrance and likewise, the marketing virtuoso behind each campaign.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

A masterful take on vetiver married with salty notes, citrus essence, sunny and woody accords. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is unabashedly masculine. The combination of amber-y woods and the cigar smoke-like aroma is addictive. Comparable to Guerlain’s Vetiver but Tom Ford is sharper and less herbal.

Tom Ford Urban Musk – photos

Tom Ford Urban Musk

Tom Ford recently released his new White Musk series, consisting of Jasmine Musk, Urban Musk, White Suede, and Musk Pure. All 4 of them were pretty impressive to my nose. Musk Pure is like a new interpretation of Kiehl’s Original Musk and Serge Luten Musk Koublai Khan, but with a twist. Jasmine Musk is a good take on what the title says, White Suede is a creamy leather with light, sweet musk notes, and Urban Musk (which I found to be the most daring of the bunch), adds a dirty note to the opening and heart and dries surprisingly sweet on my skin. Tom Ford calls this one “carnal.” I talked myself into getting Urban Musk recently at a Tom Ford event at Saks and have been enjoying it quite a bit. My SA threw in a huge factory spray of White Suede as well so I’ll be set with that one as well.

Tom Ford White Musk Collection

maandag, september 21st, 2009

Tom Ford White Musk CollectionTom Ford (swoon – such a gorgeous man!), just launched his White Musk Collection, a four fragrance uni-sex collection all inspired by musk.

* Jasmine Musk is formulated with ylang-ylang, jasmine, patchouli, orris, vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver, cistus, amber, and two musks.

* Urban Musk has notes of ambrette seed absolute extra, white pepper CO2, notes of cumin, white honey, jasmine sambac, black plum, Tonkin musk headspace, and benzoin Laos orpur.

* Musk Pure is comprised of bergamot, pepper, ylang-ylang orpur, jasmine, lily of the valley, orris butter, orris absolute, jasmine sambac, tonka, benzoin tears, and Laotian beeswax.

* White Suede has Bulgarian rose, saffron, thyme, mate tea, olibanum, lily of the valley, amber, suede, and sandalwood.

I spritzed myself with some White Suede ($180) and it’s super sexy. I’m not a big believer in uni-sex scents, but this is one that I can see working for both men and women. There’s something wonderfully alluring and enticing about it. I’m so tempted to spritz my blanket with it, wrap myself tight, and go to bed!

Tom Ford’s Japon Noir

dinsdag, september 8th, 2009

Japan Noir of Tom FordFor me, nothing quite represents the transition from summer to fall like Tom Ford’s Japon Noir. It’s a dynamic fragrance that starts with a sueded, gingery spice that morphs into a sea of sweet, smoky exotic wood. One of the most unusual aspects of this composition is a Port accord that flows across each stage of the fragrance, joining spice and leather into an intoxicating wine like blend. The texture of Japon Noir evokes everything that I associate with fall: the decadent fabrics and dark tonality of tree leaves in transition to winter.
