TOM WEIGHS ANCHOR: Word has it that Tom Ford is entertaining some of the media elite today with a series of one-on-one meetings in an Upper East Side town house with top editors from Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, among other titles. Ford is staging the all-day event as an intimate way to pull back the curtain for each editor and reveal with a flourish his new women’s fragrance, Black Orchid. The scent will be launched in the fall under the Tom Ford Beauty banner and is thought to be just the first step in a multiseason campaign to build a complete beauty house. Black Orchid is being described by executives as the anchor of what will become the Ford flotilla of fragrance and cosmetics initiatives.
