Tom Ford at the CDFA AwardsThe Oscars of the fashion world took place Monday night the Celeste Bartos Forum of The New York Public Library followed by dinner at the Bryant Park Grill.. Many stars, both on the runway and in the front row, were at the CFDA Awards to pay tribute to the men and women who keep the fashion world turning. And none did so more than Yves Saint Laurent whose death was still fresh in the hearts and minds of the attendees.

Naomi Campbell honoured his memory by wearing an Yves Saint Laurent dress and actress Ashley Olsen told Vogue UK, “Yves was an artist who always surprised us. He used to say he wanted to be Matisse, but I think Matisse would have wanted to be him.”

Regardless, the show must go on as Francisco Costa took home Womenswear Designer of the Year for Calvin Klein while Tom Ford claimed Menswears Designer of the Year. The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award went to Carolina Herrera.
